Dr. Chan is double-board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology.
Originally from Thousand Oaks, CA, she graduated cum laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. She attended medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where she graduated in the top 5% of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
She trained in Dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center - Albert Einstein College of Medicine to, where she served as the Chief Resident during her final year. Dr. Chan then completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology at Montefiore Medical Center- Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Dermpath Diagnostics in New York. She is currently a staff dermatopathologist with Mission Pathology Consultants in partnership with Cottage Health System.
During medical school, Dr. Chan performed extensive laboratory research on the science of the skin barrier, electron microscopy, and congenital skin diseases. Her work was published on the cover of JAMA Dermatology, one of the most prestigious dermatology journals in the world. She has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, book chapters in dermatology and has presented her research at both national and regional meetings, receiving several awards for her work.
Her most recent work on regressed melanoma is included in the fourth edition of the World Health Organization's Classification of Skin Tumours. She is an adjunct professor in the Department of Dermatology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and has received a teaching award for her work with residents.
In addition to her interests in complex medical dermatology, including skin cancer, autoimmune disorders, supportive oncodermatology, skin of color and infectious diseases, Dr. Chan has a strong interest in global health. Her work has taken her to Botswana, Haiti, and Bolivia.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys photographing wildlife while on safari, scuba diving, stand up paddle-boarding, and taking bike rides around beautiful Santa Barbara.
